NFSC HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE, CALLS FOR PRAYER, SUPPORT FOR QATAR 2022 FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER MATCH.
The Nigeria Football Supporters Club on Thursday held a press conference in respect of the Qater 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers between Ghana and Nigeria coming up on the 25th and 29th of March, 2022 respectively.
Rev. Samuel Ikpea, National Chairman of The Nigeria Football Supporters Club in his statement posited that owing to how important the World Cup qualifier is to Africa as a whole there should be calmness among Fans.
He assured that despite rumors of black magic power and all kinds of tensions, the two-legged match will not create any form of trouble.
Ikpea further called on both Christians and Muslims in the country to pray for the success of the Super Eagles ahead of the crucial qualifier.
He postulates that the Nigeria Football Supporters Club had been sponsoring itself, and therefore appealed to corporate organisations and individuals who ordinarily will support the Super Eagles during tournaments to also extend their financial support to The Nigeria Football Supporters Club as they plan towards mobilizing a large number of Nigerian football fans to Ghana.
"We are all aware how important the World Cup qualifiers means to both countries, and Africa Football as a whole. We therefore use this medium to call for calmness among Fans before and after the matches. Although we have read several online publications which suggest that Black Magic may be used, this should not in any way discourage Nigerians and make us loose focus on the long-term brotherly relationship between Nigeria and Ghana. Based on the aforesaid, we request as follows:
"That there is need to remind all Nigeria Football Fans to come out in large numbers with their green and white color to support our dear Super Eagles of Nigeria.
"That the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier cannot be left in the hands of the NFF alone, all stakeholders in football need to rally round and show their support by ensuring that Football Supporters and Fans are mobilized to Ghana and Abuja to support our national team.
"We also call on all Christian and Muslim in the country, as well as religious leaders to rise up to this call and ensure that at least one hour prayer session is held for the three Fridays and Sundays left ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
"Furthermore, we charge Nigerians to join members of the NFSC for a 7 day fasting and prayer session, starting from Thursday 17th to Wednesday 23rd of March 2022 ahead of the Match.
"The NFSC further appeal to corporate organisations and individuals who ordinarily will support the Super Eagles during tournaments with promises to also extend their magnanimity to the Nigeria Football Supporters Club as we plan towards mobilizing a large number of Nigerian Football Fans to Ghana for the first-leg as well as Abuja for the second-leg.
"As you all know, NFSC has been in existence for over 65 years, and our practice is to help use Football to promote the international relationship which has always existed among nations. Hence, in the spirit of sportsmanship we and our allies , i.e the Ghana Football Supporters Club have arranged to play a friendly football match on March 22, 2022. It is a friendly match between the two great Supporters Club of these two Nations. We are by this match clamouring for peace even though Nigeria will qualify.
"The NFSC therefore urge all Supporters Club members and Fans whose origin can be traced to come back ahead of this auspicious match. Let us be united under one umbrella and give Nigeria a good representation at the Qatar World Cup qualifier." Ikpea concluded.
