The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has endorsed Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, as it patron with the focused aim of reviving the club and taking it to the next level as well as promoting the club across international leagues and tournaments in the world.
The club’s National Chairman, Rev. Samuel Ikpea, explained that; "Recently the name of Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) was almost bastardized by some group of people who came up as supporters club, the NFSC is 66 years this year and we have been all over the country so we are trying to redeem the name of the club. We have personalities, Pilots, Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers as members of Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC). We are bringing them in to take the club to the next level and to let the world know that the Nigeria Football Supporters Club is still strong, united, active and the best as far as the world is concerned."
Speaking with journalists, High Chief Solomon Ogbonna posited that his appointment as a patron of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club is one of the highest honor he has ever received as a leader. He promised to contribute immensely to moving the club to a higher pedestal. "This is an overwhelming honor, it's just like giving the full leg of a cow to a little child, and the child asking who will i give it to? it's a big honor, if you talk about awards, position or honor, this is one of the best i ever got in my career as a leader. I will continue with what i am known for, I will ask God for direction on what to do and I am ready to lay my contacts on the table for the Nigeria Football Supporters Club so as to join hands together with them to move NFSC to the next level."
The decoration ceremony which took place in Surulere at the befitting secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo had dignitaries in attendance who witnesses the event. Meanwhile, NFSC instrumentalists were fully on ground as they made good use of their equipment to lift everybody's spirits .
The Nigeria Football Supporters Club was founded 66 years ago by football loving Nigerians drawn from different walks of life. It was ostensibly to support the Green Eagles, as the national team was then known.
The club is renowned for the glitz, glamour and entertainment, particularly, its ceaseless and thoroughly exciting and inspiring singing and dancing whenever and wherever various Nigerian teams are playing.
